It's National Volunteer Week! In celebration, we want to recognize the incredible impact that our volunteers have on Mesa Arts Center and our visitors. At Mesa Arts Center, our volunteers are essential in bringing the arts to life. Their dedication and commitment to our mission make it possible to offer a wide range of programming and events that enrich our community. We’re spotlighting just a few of our volunteers and sharing in their own words what they love most about working here. From everyone at Mesa Arts Center, we want to express our gratitude and appreciation for all our volunteers — thank you for all you do!
Carol Rosensteel, volunteer since 2005 My favorite parts about volunteering with Mesa Arts Center are the people I meet, and the diverse shows, events and classes that are presented. |
Ernie Hernandez, volunteer since 2005 I enjoy showing our guests to their seats in the theater, answering questions they may have about the program, and for the first-time guest, pointing out that we have four theaters in the complex and, of course, inviting them to come back and see another show. |
Laura Alexander, volunteer since 2015 I call this my 'selfish' volunteering as it is so great .... and then we get THANKED for doing it! What could be better! I thank the MAC! |
Dorothy Ashley, volunteer since 2005 My favorite part of volunteering at Mesa Arts Center is working with people and helping everyone enjoy the arts. It is a great feeling to help others laugh and enjoy the arts. |
Carol Jennings, volunteer since 2005 I couldn't know at the time how much I would enjoy the opportunity to see so many different kinds of shows, many which I would never have considered attending, nor how much I would enjoy the interaction with the many different people who came to watch those shows. |
Rhona Jenkins, volunteer since 2010 The MAC is a wonderful place to work. There are so many wonderful ushers and managers working there that become so friendly and helpful. Everyone is so willing to help you and become your friend. The patrons appreciate us and are always telling us thank you for your service. |
Dorothy Legg, volunteer since 2005 There are three aspects of ushering that I enjoy. First, it's welcoming our patrons and helping them enjoy their experience at our theaters. Secondly, I enjoy the opportunity to see a variety of events that I might not otherwise attend. Thirdly, volunteers are vital to venues around the area. It feels good to do my part to contribute to live performances in Mesa. |
Mike and Kristen Shaw, volunteers since 2009 and 2016 We both get a rush when someone we are helping realizes they are grasping the skill they are trying to learn and realize that they too are passionate about pottery. |
Elly Weinel, volunteer since 2007 It's so much fun to interact with all the other volunteers and the patrons. I especially like being a greeter. Most people are so friendly and happy to be there. |
Georgy Naimoli, volunteer since 2021 I mostly enjoy meeting and working with the artists who are members of the The Store co-op. I also take great satisfaction in answering customers' questions about the store, artists, MAC and downtown Mesa. I'm so thankful to the MAC for giving me this opportunity to serve. |
