Discover Downtown Mesa during the Central Mesa Light Rail Extension Opening 8-22-15

by Mesa Arts Center | August 21, 2015

Mesa Arts Center could not be more excited to have the Light Rail just footsteps away from our front doors making visiting MAC even more accessible to you and the community. There will be many events held throughout the day to commemorate this historic occasion. The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place from 8-9 am at the Center/Main street station, there will be plenty of photo opportunities at one of the many selfie stations or you might even meet a dino at Arizona Museum of Natural History or a fairytale princess at i.d.e.a. Museum, both museums will be offering free admission from 9 am to noon, and grab some food at a local joint along the rail like Queen’s, Volstead Public House, or Slickables. When the sun goes down enjoy the Main Street Night Market from 6 to 10 pm featuring live music, art exhibits, food trucks, and more.

Mesa Arts Center - Central Mesa Light Rail Opening Festivities:
Join MAC in celebrating the joyous jamboree from 9 am - noon.

- MAKE YOUR MARK by adding a colorful piece to the giant size Mesa Arts Center 10 Year Logo metal framework being created by Sam Troxell. The outdoor piece will be on display through Season Kickoff on September 11.

- GET INSPIRED while watching studio demonstrations featuring ceramic throwing on the wheel and glass flame working by MAC instructors.

- EXPERIENCE LIVE PERFORMANCES by Desert Dixie, Ballet Etudes, Symphony of the Southwest Quartet, Mesa Encore Theatre, and Southwest Shakespeare.

- ADORE all the wonderful items exhibited at Artist Co-op’s pop-up gallery on the north end of campus.

There will be so much to do and enjoy all around downtown that you’ll certainly want to be part of this significant event in Mesa’s history this Saturday, Aug. 22.
