BLOG 2015 - Experience Classical Music Inside Out!

by Mesa Arts Center | July 21, 2015

Classical Music Inside Out enables members of the audience to become fully immersed in the performance of magnificent music which is interpreted by master musicians themselves. During each performance the musicians will interact and share their passion for music, give informal insights, and significantly deepen the listening experience. These intimate and non-traditional performances will illuminate many outstanding works of classical music, the artistic process and the musician’s journey of exploring and inhabiting the vessels provided by the composer.

The Mesa Arts Center is honored to have in guidance for this series, special guest Artistic Director Zuill Bailey. Bailey is a master at getting audiences inside the music, providing insight into its technical challenges, historical context, and emotional colors. These are just a few of the reasons we asked him to not only curate the series, but to facilitate in pre-show conversations with our Classical Series artists.

The introduction to our series begins in October with the superb Bach Goldberg Variations:The Art of Transcription. Goldberg Variations have become an iconic monument to Western Music. This performance will feature the marvelous Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Scott Rawls, and Zuill Bailey.

In February, we will explore the music of Astor Piazzolla and Nuevo Tango with Quint Quintet. Featuring the energetic Argentine musicians JP Jofre, Pedro Giraudo, Claudio Ragazzi and Octavio Brunetti, who are led by the four-time GRAMMY® nominee Philippe Quint.

Founded in 1946 at The Julliard School in New York, the incomparable Julliard String Quartet is the first ensemble in the United States to play all six Bartok quartets, and they have honorably carried the United States and The Julliard School banners worldwide.   Devoted master teachers, the members of the Juilliard Quartet offer classes and open rehearsals when on tour.

The finale of our fabulous series is the hilarious performance of Igudesman and Joo: And Now Mozart. This duo has received over 40 million hits on YouTube for their unique blending of comedy with classical music and pop culture. Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung-Ki Joo are taking the world by storm.
