Like other art, photographs provide experience. They place the viewer in a moment in time and convey the message of that moment. Few nonprofits have budgets that allow them to hire outstanding photographers. Even so, we know that quality photography is essential for these organizations to tell their stories to their clients, their community partners and potential donors. Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust introduced Picturing Maricopa a year ago to offer the services of 15 talented photographers to 15 nonprofit organizations, which gain usage rights to the photographs. This exhibition features a fresh group of agencies and newly selected photographers. The focus of this year’s project is selected human services that provide crisis care for vulnerable populations including respite care for families and caregivers.
