Arizona resident and Belgian native Stéphane Janssen has amassed an extensive international collection that  reflects the connoisseurship of one individual and the role art plays as a recorder of history. This exhibition focuses on the social and political art of Janssen’s collection, featuring works that offer commentary on authority, conflict, war, ideology, oppression and fear. Paired with writings of the artists, the visual recordings capture events the artists have experienced, and in some cases, the risks that some took to tell a story that still continues on in one form or another. Curated by Ann Sanchez, Collection Curator.
