Sylvia Waters, Artistic Director Emerita, Ailey II

Sylvia Waters graduated from The Julliard School with a Bachelor of Science in Dance. As a professional dancer, she toured in the European company of Black Nativity, as well as in Donald McKayle's Black New World. As a member of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ms. Waters toured the globe as a principal dancer before shifting her focus to Ailey II when Alvin Ailey chose her to become artistic director.

 

Renee Robinson, Alvin Ailey Dance Teacher

When Renee Robinson retired as a principal dancer after more than 30 years with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, she was the last company member to have worked with its founder, Alvin Ailey, and the only dancer to have performed with all three of the company's artistic directors (Alvin Ailey, Judith Jamison and Robert Battle).

 

Walter Belcher, Singer/Actor/Director/Social Justice Advocate

Mr. Belcher has dedicated his career to social justice causes and youth development. He has deep and diverse theater and music credits, including directing, acting and singing on stage, and in films and commercials. He is the Director of the internationally acclaimed Up with Peaople show, and has designed arts-based curricula for youth celebrating diversity, equity and inclusion.
