In partnership with ASU Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), Mesa Arts Center Opportunities for 55+ are proud to offer this free lecture.

Legendary actor Sidney Poitier was among the most respected, honored, and universally recognized screen artists of the 1950s and 60s before becoming an influential and successful director, author, and humanitarian in his later years. In this exploration of Poitier’s life, Dr. Jason Davids Scott, associate professor of the Sidney Poitier New American Film School, reconsiders the Poitier legacy as an ongoing call for inclusive progress, shared responsibility, and abiding respect of one’s family and culture. Join the conversation and share your memories of Poitier’s most impactful performances.
