(Survival Guide to) Holidays in the Desert

by Kristin McLeod | December 11, 2019

The holidays are quickly closing in and Mesa Arts Center has a sleigh full of free fun events and activities to keep you busy! Wrap up your holiday shopping at Mesa Arts Festival on December 14 and 15 (10AM – 5PM both days). Deck your halls with fantastic finds from over 80 vendors, enjoy live music, indulge in tasty food and drinks, adopt a fur baby from Arizona Humane Society’s Waggin’ Wheels (1-4PM) both days and more! For even more shopping options, stop by The Store at Mesa Arts Center – your destination for one-of-a-kind gifts for the hard-to-shop-for person on your list.

Get inspired by a visit to Mesa Contemporary Arts (MCA) Museum – awarded Best Museum in the Valley by Phoenix New Times. Admission is FREE.  On Fri, Dec 13 (6:30 PM), see a free showing of Racing Extinction in the MCA Museum’s Dobson Lecture Hall. While you’re there, check out the whimsical, fine art piñatas of Roberto Benavidez and the breathtaking Flourish exhibition.

Celebrate the last spark at dark of the year on Saturday, December 21 (7-10PM)! Curated by Lulubell Toy Bodega and Champ Styles, this month’s theme is Sticker Shogun and features both hand-drawn and digitally printed stickers by artists from all over the globe. Plus, enjoy tunes spun by DJ CreOne, satisfy your late-night cravings at Stackin’ Tacos who will be grilling up their award-winning BBQ, grab a selfie at the street art photo station, watch live aerosol murals by Such Styles, Kaper, Lalo Cota and more!

The magic of the holiday season is happening now at Mesa Arts Center!
