After being in 50 cities across the globe and reaching over 10 million people, the international project, Play Me, I’m Yours, comes to Arizona for the first time with Mesa as host!
Mesa Arts Center Foundation’s Annual Gala will celebrate the extraordinary project with 14-year-old pianist Emily Bear. Heralded as one of the most astonishing musical talents of our times, Ms. Bear, was just 4 when she had her first pieces published. Zuill Bailey, classical cellist (and part of an amazing live auction package during this year’s gala), says when Emily plays “It pours out with such joy and creativity and spontaneity that you just stand back in awe.”
Emily has helped raise millions for charities across the globe and is lending her phenomenal talent to Mesa Arts Center for this special evening where she will debut "The Bravest Journey” specially arranged for 25 pianos. The piece was composed by Emily when she was only 13 years old in honor of war veterans and tells the story of the soldier’s journey from being drafted or enlisting, fighting in a war, coming home and trying to re-assimilate into their lives - seemingly the same person yet hugely changed from their experiences.
So remember that feeling you had the first time you tickled the ivories and take YOUR turn on the keys by being part of this premiere event! Tickets are $150 and proceeds go towards Mesa Arts Center Foundation which helps fund engagement programs such a Literacy Through the Arts, Jazz A to Z, Creative Aging, and Spoken Word to name a few.
