Online Classes

Art Studios online classes include four pre-recorded sessions that will be released weekly to class registrants. Class experiences are roughly one hour each week. Students should plan to pause during the lesson to move through the process led by the teacher. 

 

Sessions that start in July, will be released the week of July 13.
Sessions that start in August, will be released the week of August 10.

 

Students will also have the opportunity to meet virtually via Zoom for one hour on a weekly basis with their classmates and teacher to review their work and ask questions. Class release dates and scheduled virtual meeting times are listed within each class description below. 

 

Please carefully review the details and requirements for each class before registration. Some classes include the cost of materials with registration, while others require that the student acquires materials and basic tools. In this four-week online Intermediate hand-building class, students will explore coloring and layering clay to create simple designs and patterns (week one), then be guided the three remaining weeks to utilize these materials to make three additional projects: mugs, bowls, and a planter. In addition to the materials included with registration, students should be prepared to spend an additional $30-$60 on supplies. At the end of this 4-week course students will need to make appointments with the instructor to bring artwork back to the ceramics studio for a cone 012 bisque and cone 6 glaze firing, included with the cost of the class. Class includes scheduled live Zoom calls with students and instructor. 15 spot limit.

In this online course, the student will learn to develop quick sketches with felt tip pens and water-soluble graphites. This will allow students to quickly capture the moments during trips, or to make preliminary notes for future painting projects. Four, one hour video classes demonstrating how to create a dazzling treasure box from beveled glass. Techniques covered include copper foil application, how to make and attach a wire hinge, soldering and finishing. Included in cost of class is a packet containing design template, assorted bevels, cut glass shapes and pre-tinned wire to complete one jewel box. Instructor creating glass object

In this online class, students will learn to use metal rods, wire and other materials to produce a large (5ft or bigger) free-standing sculpture for the home or landscape. It could also be used as substructures (whole or part) to be clad with sheet metal, fabric, cements...ect. The sky is the limit. A demonstration with techniques, how to start and work, and examples of finished work will be given. Students can then divert to create their own unique sculpture, incorporating found objects, rocks, other art, etc. This class is offered to intermediate and advanced students with welding experience and knowledge and have access to a MIG welder, metal grinder and some assorted shop hand tools. Students should expect to spend $50+ on supplies (see below). Class includes scheduled live Zoom calls with students and instructor. 15 spot limit.

Tall metal sculpture

In this four-week online course, students will make art for the kitchen using unglazed black and white clays. Projects Include: pinch salt and pepper bowls, spoon rest, utensil holder and a decorative serving dish. Work will be brought back to the studio once the course is complete to be fired to cone 6. All work will be dishwasher and food safe. Class includes scheduled live Zoom calls with students and instructor. 15 spot limit.

Clay objects

This basic watercolor course is intended to offer a step-by-step guide, on how to create watercolor effects on dry paper, wet on wet, dry brush, etc. In this online class, students will apply all the listed effects in a final landscape exercise. Class includes scheduled live Zoom calls with students and instructor. 15 spot limit.

Instructor painting with water color

This informative online class will reveal in detail a unique multi-technique process used to create sophisticated fused glass art. Class consists of four, one hour video tutorials demonstrating step by step how to create a contemporary fused glass dish. Topics covered include an explanation of fused glass fundamentals, designer tips for abstract compositions, advanced glass cutting, use of frit “grout” in two layered glass fusing and stenciled powder embellishments. Cost of class includes a material kit containing design idea templates, 2oz bag fine frit, 2oz bag powder, multiple kiln firings and use of studio shaping molds. In this online class, students will learn through video demos to use their imagination to create fantastical creatures using a variety of materials and techniques. There is no limit to what it should look like (the more bizarre the better). Students will be walked through all steps needed to accomplish their creatures. Demonstrations will be given on painting techniques for final creation. Students should be smiling throughout the creative process!
