Beethoven’s symphonies have endured for centuries, speaking to generation upon generation. In his final symphonic work, the composer takes his listeners on a monumental journey from anguish to joy, ending with life-affirming triumph. Assistant Conductor Matthew Kasper conducts The Phoenix Symphony and Phoenix Symphony Chorus in Beethoven’s most celebrated masterpiece – the Ninth. Also on the program – Vaughan Williams’ richly textured Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, a work that joins string quartet and string orchestra in gorgeous harmony.
