Teaching artists interested in learning about the creative aging field can join Mesa Arts Center and representatives from Banner Alzheimer’s Institute on September 5. This brief training will review the effects of dementia on the brain and how teaching artists can adapt their lesson plans to serve older adults and adults living with dementia. Benefits of lifelong learning for older adults, through creative aging programs, can include reduced isolation, fewer doctors visits, reduced medication use, increased self esteem, morale and more.
