Project Lit Matching Challenge

September 28, 2017

Now through December 31, 2017, every dollar contributed to the Mesa Arts Center Foundation in support of Project Lit will be matched up to $10,000, thanks to a generous contribution from supporters Bill Passey and Maria Silva.

This unique program is one of Mesa Arts Center’s many Engagement Programs, working to bolster traditional literacy, 21st-Century job skills and resiliency in K-12 students.

Project Lit, offered in K-12 classrooms across the Valley, uses tools like Hip Hop, Drama, Improv and Spoken Word to build critical literacy in today’s youth. Project Lit creates a brave space for creative expression, allowing students to develop cultural, emotional and social literacy.

These programs have a significant impact on student success.

  • 92% of students who participated in Literacy through Theater reported improved reading/literacy skills, and 100% reported improved speaking and listening skills.
  • In Literacy through Improv, 97% of students reported increased self-esteem and confidence.
  • 100% of teachers who participated in Literacy through Spoken Word agreed they would use the techniques they learned through Project Lit in their classrooms.

Want to be a part of increasing the reach of the Project Lit program? Contribute today at https://www.mesaartscenter.com/matchingchallenge, or by calling 480-644-6604. Even $1 can make a huge difference.
