Last Chance to Experience Southwest Shakespeare’s Winterfest 2016!

January 27, 2016

This weekend, founding resident company Southwest Shakespeare will close out one of our favorite annual events – Winterfest. Two of Shakespeare’s bests, Othello and The Comedy of Errors will be performed “in repertory” with essentially the same sets on the same stage. Get the scoop below and pick up your tickets today.

There. Your weekend is planned!

Othello is one of Shakespeare’s enduring tragedies with grand themes of love, jealousy, feminism, and racism. Set in Venice and the sun-bleached outpost of Cyprus in the Cavalier period of the mid-17th century, this tale boils with fury, honor, and consuming passions. The Moor Othello, a celebrated general but also an outsider, shares a boundless love with Desdemona, a Venetian aristocrat. Their happiness could be undone by the deceitful Iago, Othello's military aide, as he plots, connives, and twists the truth with murderous intentions.

Shakespeare meets Miami Vice in Southwest Shakespeare’s presentation of The Comedy of ErrorsThe Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare's earliest plays and his shortest. It is infused with farce, slapstick humor and language puns whilst peppered with mistaken identities, two sets of long-separated twins, fateful romance and family reunions. So grab your sunglasses, a daiquiri or two, and join us as we jump back to our Miami sound machine!
